Null columns

In 9.7 Options>Data Grids>Visual I could set “Null columns:”
to Yellow. I rather liked that feature. Seems I can’t find that same
feature in 10.6. I have found “Null column text:”, but that’s
not quite the same. Have I gone blind?

I’m pretty sure that option was deprecated with v10

Don’t listen to Jeff. (Sorry, Jeff!)

It’s not just a simple checkbox anymore, but it can still be done. The
grids are much more configurable than before.

Options -> Data Grids -> Visual.

Click “Edit Styles”, then “Edit” in the next dialog.

Select “Nulls” under “grid element”.

Click the ‘…’ button next to ‘Color’ to choose a
color.

Check the checkbox to turn it on.

Bummers!

I depreciate (don’t appreciate) that. L

Sweet! That’s what I get for assuming things again.

I totally overlooked the Null field there for that dialog.

AHA! That’s wonderful. I can breathe again.

Thanks much,

Like John said, don’t listen to me, I don’t know what I’m
talking about – per usual.

Here’s how it looks in v10

I do listen to you. J Thanks for the recent Tips and Tricks webinar.

In said webinar Bert mentioned the Search box in the lower left of the Options
screen. That’s how I found “Null column text:” The search did
not find the occurrence of “Null” that John mentioned and that you
show here. Should it have?

Probably not, its embedded in another options dialog – it wouldn’t
find the formatter options either – until v11 comes out, when the
formatter options are part of the main options dialog

Don't listen to Jeff.

The formatter options are re-parented within Toad, but still created by an
external process. We have no way to search the text of those controls even in
v11.

Double fake out!

Triple actually. I told someone else today you couldn’t reassign some of
the editor shortcuts b/c they weren’t on the menu/toolbar – then
found the key mappings dialog in the editor options.

Feels like I’m starting over with Toad 101 today?
