oracle connection option missing

I’ve downloaded Toad for DA Freeware 2.1.0.241 on windows xp

I’d like to connect to some oracle db’s using oracle instant client 10.2.

I have set TNS_ADMIN, and ORACLE_HOME to the instant client directory and added it to PATH

When I go to new connections, my only available groups are access, excel and odbc.

I believe my instant client is okay because tora is using it fine.

I’m sure i’m missing something fundamental.

Any pointers appreciated.

TDA Freeware only uses ODBC to connect to Oracle. You would need to define an ODBC connection to Oracle.
