Oracle External Authentication and Join Analysis

I am trying to do a join analysis and generate the venn diagram. I have a 2016 SQL server data base that I have successfully connected to and an Oracle 11.02 database that I have successfully connected with using External authentication. When connecting via external authentication I am not using a username or password in the connection dialog. I have successfully pulled tables from each of the databases into the workspace and would like to join them on a field and use the join analyzer.

when i click on the join to do the analysis, and generate the venn diagram, i get an error message that says can’t connect to my oracle database ORA-01005: null password give; logon denied; so it sounds like it isn’t recognizing the external authentication.

how do i get the analyzer to recognize the database is using external authentication and pass my credentials?

thank you for helping me through my newbie issues!

Have you setup the ODBC connection string under the ADVANCED tab on the connection window?

That’s wierd. The support case is under Toad for Oracle. Let me see if I can get it changed.
