Dear all,
last version of TOAD SS 6.1 .
I want to use Log Reader feature.I select log reader button on toolbar and when the wizard appear I select - configure server components - to test if all is OK.
I discover that check status return me status - not installed.
At this point I press button - install - to install the approrpiate components, but I obtain an error message.
The error is : cannot read server Temp directory.
I try to attach a screenshot in Options - File attachment click to add - of the message, but I can’t.
I use Microsoft Windows 7 at 64 bits with service pack 1 plus last Windows update in italian language and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition with service pack 1.
I have installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package.
Have you some idea ?
Best regards.
Sergio
Hi Sergio,
Could you please let us know if you have tried with the local admin user of the environment where your SQL Server instance hosted.
Thanks and regards,
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
many thank’s for your support.
I use a notebook standalone. I’m not conneted in a windows domain.
I tried with both account :
SQL Server service account and Logon as user.
Obviously user is an administrator user of my notebook and SQL Server service account is sa user of my SQL Server 2012.
Best regards.
Sergio

Hi Bruce,

It’s normal for the one-button install not to work if any security has been configured on your systems. If it’s a standalone system, most decent anti-virus software will prevent the install from running any executables from the Temp folder. I recommend the manual install method. support.quest.com/…/75817
If this is from one system to a remote server, the credentials for the installer must have administrative permissions on the remote system. Even then, it may fail due to the server version of UAC running later 2008 R2 systems. (Really it should fail if you have security, so just always manual install).
Hi HiJumper,
many thank’s for your suggestion.
Install manually and now all is OK.
I can use Log reader feature without problems.
Best regards.
Sergio
