The Log Reader feature was available in previous versions of Toad for SQL Server but has been removed from the current 2026 R2 release. A request has been raised to provide an alternative solution for transaction log analysis that does not require the installation of any server-side components on the SQL Server.
Many organizations operate under strict security policies that prohibit the installation of third-party software on database servers. As a result, the previous Read Log Wizard implementation, which required a server-side component, could not be used in these environments.
The requested enhancement is to introduce a secure, client-side alternative for transaction log reading and analysis, allowing users to access similar functionality without deploying any components to the SQL Server.
