This is not a problem on a Windows 7 based computer.
I installed only Toad 5.0.0.444 created a Query in Management studio, saved the
file, opened the .sql query in Toad and it is working fine.
Installing Hotfix KB981574 (after a LENGTHY request call from Microsoft) has
resolved this issue for me.
