RE: Yahoo! Groups: Welcome to TOADSQL. Visit today!

I've missed the start of this thread, but reading between the lines:

The problem is that I can't display that field in toad even
with the V10 !!

TOAD displays null but I know this field is filed

  • Is the column defined as CHAR(n) or NCHAR(n)?
  • Do you have view->Toad Options->Data Grids->Data->"Trim string data in
    CHAR and NCHAR columns" checked?
  • Is the data actually blank, consiting of spaces only?

If all the above is true, then the trimming option will remove spaces
and cause the resulting empty string to be considered NULL - which is in
agreement with what Oracle does to empty strings.

Turn off the option and trailing spaces are not removed resulting in a
non-empty string which is not NULL.
