RE: Yahoo! Groups: Welcome to TOADSQL. Visit today!

(Resent due to going missing!)

Afternoon Stéphane,

Thank you for your message

I have downloaded a trial version 10 of Toad

And the result is he same, nothing in the field "NAME"

Are you sure that it is not a problem of parameters in our machine ?

And yes ! the result of that search could be "bracelet"

Ok, I'm puzzled now. Toad 10 is able to cope with Unicode and should be able to see your data. I've CC'd the other Toad list as this is more a Toad problem than an SQL problem. Maybe one of the developers will chime in and point you in the right direction.

Sorry I can't help any more! :frowning:

Background for the Toad devs:

  • Original thread is on ToadSQL.
  • User has Toad 7.4 and is connecting to a database.
  • Data in a table has a data type on NVARCHAR2 which is character set.
  • Data shows up in the grid as blank. Options on Toad to trim CHAR/VARCHAR fields is off.
  • Data exists in the table:

SELECT DUMP(name, 16)
FROM tterm
WHERE base ='20839'

DUMP(NAME,16)
Typ=1 Len=16: 0,62,0,72,0,61,0,63,0,65,0,6c,0,65,0,74

  • The above corresponds to 'bracelet'.
  • User has now got a trial version of Toad 10 and still sees a blank in the grid.
  • Norm is beat!

Any clues gratefully appreciated, if not by me alone, certainly by Stéphane.

Cheers,
Norm. [TeamT]

It's not my database! It belongs to Stéphane. The NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET is AL16UTF16.
