I have noticed windows has trouble searching in backup files. I believe this is because of the ~ character. Is there a way to search in your backup file without opening them up with the windows search option?
I have never used Windows Explorer to search for files by content before and I see the same. I have found some references to advanced search options that can be used, e.g. filename:pattern content:search_term and these do not work for me.
Toad has a find in files feature available from the Search menu that can handle it.

The window is available from Toad's Search menu as previously mentioned. All options for the window are available on its controls as seen in the screenshot.

It's on Toad's main menu. All along the top there is File, Edit, Search, etc.
