Special character as column delimiter ASCII 30 - 01E - RS: Record Separator

When creating a template we have the option to choose a character as a column delimiter. In most case is the pipe character |

We’d like to use an ASCII special character to keep in pace with our Informatica exports. It is the ASCII character 30, AKA RS - Record Separator, which looks like this ^^. Is it possible in TDP to use this special character as a column delimiter?

ASCII table attached. As mentioned above, we’re looking for the possibility of using ASCII character 30 (RS / ^^) as a column delimiter in TOAD.

Hi,

Unfortunately you can only use a printable character as a column delimiter.

To be able to set the custom delimiter use “Delimiter Text” as output format.

I created a task QAT-12793 to support nonprintable ASCII character.

Thank you for the info Aleksey.

Quick follow-up, when you said: “I created a task QAT-12793 to support nonprintable ASCII character”

Does that mean that TDP might have this option in the future? If so, any idea of what the turnaround time might be? Thanks again.

We looked at this and cannot implement. Our controls will not accept these characters to be used in this manner.
