Teamcoding with a Toad 12.x

Hy Guys,

i’m trying to configure the teamcoding without any other version control system and its not working like is should be.

For Example:
If i had checked out an object (Package/Procedure …) the other guys on the same database user, will also see the objects as checked out and can edit this files.

The way i’ve configured the teamcoding:

1.) Installing the teamcodig objects to the user toad

2.) Active teamcoding with code collections

3.) Configured a Collection for my schema with all Objects.

4.) All of us starts a new toad with a new connection. But it was still not working.

Any further idea? Or is there a known bug?

regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

It sounds like you’ve done everything correctly. If you open the TC configuration window and go to the “status” tab does anything jump out? When you say it’s
not working, what exactly are you doing?

Thanks,

Brad

At the status tab, everything looks fine.

  • Toad Team Coding Support Installed: Green
  • Version: 7.0 --> Green
  • Team Coding Enabled --> Green
    Only VCS is not Enabled.

The Problem is, an other guy, who is programming on this schema, can edit a package which i have checked out

Hello,

If you are using 12.0, I think it is a known issue which was addressed in 12.1. Upgrading should address the issue.

We just tested the scenario you describe internally. Objects checked out by you should show a status of ‘locked’ on the Team Coding Viewer when other users
log in. The system is checking the OS User and the Oracle User to determine who has locked the object. If either is different from the user who checked out the object, then it will display as ‘locked’, otherwise the status will display as ‘Checked out’. Only
the ‘Checked out’ user should be able to edit the object.

Hope this helps.

Stephen

Brad pointed out to me that I am assuming everyone is logging in as different OS users. There are a number of permutations of how you might be using Team
Coding. What OS user and DB user is the check out user logging in as? Is the schema of the checked out object different from the logon user? What are the credentials (OS User and Oracle DB user) of the second user, who should be seeing locked objects?

If you like, send a little more detailed Test Scenario and we will try to confirm that the issue is indeed addressed.

Thanks

Stephen

I think a guy of my team has done an mistake.

I’ve tested the issue a second time and the only issue i’ve found is the check in all Objects Button.

In the popup i see all checked out objects doesn’t matter which os user has checked out the Objects.

But i will tests the teamcoding functions in the evening on more times to be sure that it is working with the toad 12.1

is it possible that the know issue, wasn’t only in 12.0? Because some guy of the testing group uses the 11.6.1 Version.

Yes , the issue may have been in 11.6.

Have you been able to reproduce the issue with the check in all objects button?

Yeah, but in our case are different Oracle and OS Users.

In my Case i have just different OS Users and the same Oracle user.

With different oracle users its working.

I see. I will add a fix for this. Thanks for the helping to find this.

Is there already a release date for the next update?

Interpreting that you guys haven’t answered that topic, there will not be a update in near future

Hi Stephan,

This is probably more of a question for Product Management. The next release is in development and is scheduled for Q2 2014. It’s a little early in the development
cycle for firmer dates.

I know what you mean, but i don’t want a “new” versions, I want fixes for the known bugs. Because at the moment the last working Toad version is the 11.5.1 and that versions was released a long time ago

Dell Software does not generally do patches to old versions. Bugs are fixed and released in new versions. On rare occasions a current version may get a “hot
fix” for an urgent issue. But not older, non-current versions. Don’t kill the messenger – I’m just sharing the policy – I did not make it

Hi Stephen,

i’ve tested the 12.5 Beta and there the bug still exists.
