Toad 10 PM FTP & Unix Job Scheduler pwd bugs

There is an encryption algorithm which is used in a few areas of the product which we didn’t revisit in the upgrade to Unicode and Delphi 2009 and which is now broken in Toad 10 as a result. It does not compromise security, the passwords become mangled.

The areas are:

  1. Project Manager FTP nodes (when ‘save FTP passwords’ is on)

  2. Unix Job Scheduler

  3. Export Utility Wizard’s Save/Load Settings SYSDBA account password (when ‘Export tablespaces’ mode is chosen)

  4. Import Utility Wizard’s Save/Load Settings SYSDBA account password (when ‘Export tablespaces’ mode is chosen)

  5. Team Coding CVS login

As a consequence, passwords cannot be saved and loaded from disk in these areas, they have to be reentered each time Toad runs.

I suggest you keep your User Files from a previous Toad install. We may be able to fix this such that you can read in a 9.7 or earlier disk file (such as a Project Manager file) and have it properly decrypt the 9.7 encrypted passwords in these areas. It may turn out that they will have to be reentered. Another possible scenario would be that we provide a utility in the patch to fix them.

We don’t yet have a date for a patch but are actively working on one.
