Toad 17 Installer Disappears on Product Selection

Hello,
I am experiencing the same issue with Toad Install disappearing on the Product Selection window. I am also on a VA laptop. Does Quest have a solution yet? Thanks.

I am not sure why the issue is occurring so no, there is no fix. Any information you can provide that may help identify the cause would be much appreciated. Any errors shown in Event Viewer, any information on software your machine has that may be interfering, any logs from such software, anything your IT admins can see on their end that may have been logged, and similar items would all be useful.

An earlier poster said they were able to install the software by downloading the individual product MSI and installing from those. The EXE installer that you've downloaded is our Suite installer that bundles the MSI installers of each product in the suite. At Quest.com where you download the installers there is a link to download a zip file containing the individual product MSI.

Thanks,
Michael

Hello,
I did also just see that earlier post and I tried the same. It did work successfully with no issues. Is there any downside to using the MSI vs EXE or once installed, is it all the same and no difference?
Thanks.

Note: Rather than downloading the MSI.Zip as you mentioned, I only downloaded the (MUCH) smaller MSI (Full). Is this fine or was there a reason you suggested to download the much larger msi zip?
The file I downloaded: Toad for Oracle 17.1 - 64-Bit MSI (Full)
Thanks.

There is no difference. The EXE installer simply orchestrates all of the MSI installers. There are a few differences that don't matter like asking for your license key upfront and creating a root folder for the entire suite of products and then each individual product is installed as a subfolder off of that root.

If you have anything to provide that would assist in resolving this I'd love to look at it so this won't be an ongoing issue with each release. We don't have restrictive environments here and I have setup the restrictions I know about and nothing is causing the issue.

Michael

The MSI you have downloaded contains only Toad for Oracle. If you have a license which includes other software like SQL Optimizer, etc. then you will need the larger zip file if you intend to install and use those other products.

Just Toad for me. So this is great that it installed.
I am probably the wrong person to try and dig in and diagnose the issue.
I am a DBA so local desktop environment is not my area.

I wasn't sure if you could inquire with your IT department and ask if they know why the product isn't installing. It appears to be environment related so perhaps those who are imposing your laptop restrictions would be able to shed some light on what is going on.
