TOAD Crash

I’m continuing to have TOAD crashes on a regular basis. Today’s error was in the latest beta and occurred when I was working with one editor open, only one session, but several tabs. I had run queries in several tabs and was switching back and forth to compare data. All of a sudden I got a whole host of Invalid Pointer errors that I couldn’t clear fast enough for the next one to pop up.

One thing I had done differently today from other days is look at the forums using the browser in TOAD. They were all closed, however. I have to confess, I don’t like needing to use TOAD as a newsgroup reader. I much prefer it being amazing at helping me work with Oracle.

I have not turned off the auto-save feature yet. I am hesitant to do that because of the regularity of the crashes and the fact that I’m always working with multiple editor tabs with unsaved changes that I don’t want to lose.

Oh, and one other thing that might be interesting. Some of the crashes that I’ve had appear to keep some kind of TOAD process active despite the fact that there is no visible window. I had an earlier crash today and decided to install the latest beta while I was out of TOAD. When I went to install, it told me that TOAD was already running and when I selected the option to have it automatically shut TOAD down, it was unable to do that - I had to kill the process manually (and reboot).

I hope this is helpful information for getting this problem resolved.

Blessings,

Phyllis
