Hi John,
I'm using the Workspace feature to auto load two DB connections and numerous Schema browsers, SQL edit windows with preloaded specific files, and a session browser on each connection. Since I install 17 and now 17 patch 1. TOAD is continually crashing when I either open a new file for edit, change a schema browser filter on a table view or even just simply loading the workspace. This is now happening multiple time a day which is proving greatly costly to both lost time and occasional lost edits.
Please advise how I can capture some logs for your investigations
Regards
Paul Beck
Can you send me your Workspaces.dat file, along with specific steps to reproduce an error?
C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\17.0\User Files\Workspaces.dat
You can send it to john.dorlon@quest.com.

I am having the same issues that [paul.beck] is describing.
TOAD 17.0 was locking up, so I had it reinstalled. Result - 5-7 lock ups per day based on various actions with normal functionality of the software. After lockup I am having to kill the TOAD session from Task manager and restart and am losing saved work.
Upgraded to TOAD 17.1 this week - result - the same problems - no improvement whatsoever!!
I have been a TOAD user off and on for 20 years and have never had these issues occur to this magnitude before with TOAD. This issue is hindering my productivity in a major way and I am starting to use Oracle SQL Developer more because of this and i am thinking of asking my company about providing PL/SQL DEVELOPER by allround automations.
This problem needs a resolution!!!
Hi Gregory,
Sorry for your frustration. I am one of the developers of Toad, and my main focus since about version 14.0 or so has been fixing bugs. I want to get every bug fixed, but some them I don't know about or are not reproducible. Please know, I very much want to fix this.
If you can give me some steps to reproduce any of these lock ups that you are experiencing (or at least let me know what you are doing at the time), that will help a lot.
One thing you can do is turn on freeze detection. This will cause Toad to create a call stack when a lock up occurs. We should be able to tell you what's happening from there.
Details on enabling freeze detection, as well has how to collect the log afterwards and how to get it to me are here.
