Toad db connectivity

Hello,

Need Help with Toad tool, i am using toad to connect to db on solaris. For some
reason i am gettting tns timeout issue. when i try to connect using toad or
connect db through sqlplus.
Any guidance to work on this issue.

Sorry, but this could be everything. So a lots of questions which can lead to
the correct solution.

The most important one is:

  • what is the exact error message you get from sqlplus or Toad?

Other questions:

  • is the Oracle client correctly installed?

  • what is the version on your Oracle client

  • what is the version of the Oracle server

  • is the Oracle server working?

  • is your workstation connected to the network?

  • is the configuration of the Oracle client complete, like info on the oracle
    server, protocols, etc.?

  • can you do a tnsping to the oracle instance from the server, from the
    client/workstation?

So, the best thing you can do is to make it working with sqlplus with assistance
from your administrator. Then if Toad is not working we can more easily assist
you with this problem.
