I’ve used Toad for DB2 on Windows for several years. I recently switched jobs and I don’t have a Windows PC anymore. I’ve a Mac instead. I notice that Toad for Mac is available, but it doesn’t support DB2. What are my options to install Toad for DB2 on a Mac?
You will need to use a virtualization application (i.e. VMware, Parallels, VirtualBox, etc) on your Mac. Once you have one of these you will then need to install Windows on that. Keep in mind you will need to have a Windows license in order to install it on the virtualization application.
I do not think there will be a version of Toad that runs natively on the Mac. The reason is IBM does not provide a DB2 Client that runs on Mac. Toad needs the DB2 Client in order to run.
With the recent partnership between IBM and Apple this may change in the future. If it does I suspect it will take a few years for them to release a DB2 Client on the Mac.
