Toad for Oracle Mac 2025 R3 UI issues and performance

Hi -

I have been a user for Toad for Oracle windows for a long time.

Recently migrated to use it on Mac but have been facing issues and it needs a fix. If someone knows how to fix below issues, please let me know.

Issue 1: When coloring theme enabled (any color scheme) , icons disappear and replaced by labels. Also, overall look and feel is completely garbage and not workable. Drop down menus don’t work in schema browser. Data. grid right click menus flip/flop highlighting colors.

Issue 2: When I disconnect docking station, the toad windows don’t appear on laptop screen. the app is open but the screen can’t be seen unless I restart the app.

Issue 3: Toad for Oracle Mac app has performance issues. when toggling between editor, schema browser, connections, takes many seconds to switch. Other apps on the same laptop are working fast and fine.

Overall, compared to app in windows, working on toad for Oracle in Mac is less functional and very poor user experience. Please let me know if there’s some UI configuration to resolve this or really looking forward to seeing this fixed in next version.

Hi sudhir.patel,

There’s a limitation in the macOS version. To resolve the UI issues you can:

  1. Disable color themes (and you can keep High DPI and SVG settings turned on)
  2. or keep using a color theme and disable both High DPI and SVG

Also, disabling High DPI and SVG should improve overall application performance.

Thanks for suggestion, but on MacOS Sequoia or Toad - I couldn’t find these settings. can you please suggest detailed steps?

High DPI and SVG refers to “Application DPI Awareness“ and “SVG Icons“ in Options → General → Graphics.
