While evaluating the Mac version, I noticed a number of differences in the UI. However, most of them are rather of a cosmetic nature than a real problem 
You can probably get the grid lines back by adjusting the settings here
Everything else is stuff we'll have to look at.

This seems to change the gridlines only in the data grid (the only place where gridlines are already displayed)
huh, too bad. In Windows, that setting applies to all grids. At least the color does. Did you try changing the color?
I hadn't tested it yet.
But that was a good suggestion I changed the color to red for testing:
So for some reason the default color an a Mac seems to be white (or transparent) while on windows it depends on the kind of grid. (The data grid is some kind of dark Gray or black, while in the session manager it's a light Gray).
I've set it to "silber" for now.
