I have a problem with new Toad 12.6b.
I have 12.5 installed latest release installed but I get message
Toad for Oracle
Toad for Oracle version 12.5 not found. Please install the latest commercial version of Toad before attempting to run Toad for Oracle Beta.
Have to say that this new security policy seems to be not fair for many of us who lives on Toad and spreading this tool at customers, with trial license at their computers.
Actually this has always been the policy on Toad. The previous GA version had to have a license to participate in the beta program. The only change was removing the ability to use the license keys from the deprecated licensing system that has been out
of use for well over 5 years.

Anyway, do you think it’s fair to those that pay? In the past we had users living perpetually year-round on the Toad Beta as a way to never spend a dime.
Naturally they justified it by stating that they were causing huge Toad sales for us wherever they went at customer sites.
In your case because of your heavy involvement in the Toad Community I personally think a strong case could be made to help get you a Pro license. I think ToadWorld
needs to offer those kinds of incentives to build up the community. Something for Product Management to chew on hopefully.

Then you were somehow just magically lucky because it was not and is not supposed to work that way. So if we fixed it now and yours is not working - that’s the way it is supposed to be. I’d suggest following mark’s advice and seeing about getting a license from the PM for community service. Short of that - you are out of luck.
thx for replies-quite interesting. Seems taht luck is all around me … For some material goods I’m willing to install all to 12.1 and show (if beta is still active) that all is working as mentioned.
12.6 beta will look for 12.5 GA install and license. So new beta should not work off 12.1. It worked before because earlier beta was a 12.5 beta and thus required 12.1. Basically the current beta only works with prior commercial release. So I think you do need to reach out to the PM for a more long term solution not involving luck
The new PM (as of a week ago) is Daniel Norwood 0 he;s in LA area. I would contact him. You can guess his email - first-name.last-name@quest.com. You can also copy John Pocknell who was the PM until Daniel took over. The person you contacted is a sales consultant - so he was not in a position to answer you questions/issues about betas and the requirement for most recent commercial product. That’s the policy which won’t change, but maybe you guys can discuss other options …
