I have toad for SQL server (8.1.0.28168 (64 Bit)) and 3 connections; production, development, and test. The development is missing some of the tables and most of the stored procedures. Our IT guys say they are all there and I am the owner of them all so the issue is with Toad. I’ve cleared the object explorer filters so many times but with no luck. I’ve checked and the schema is the same as the tables I do see in development and it is the same schema as the others when I look at them in test and production. I’ve never had this problem before with Toad but this is a new version/install after a hard drive replacement.
If you use SSMS, do you see these objects?
I’ve had my share of issues with TSS but not this type.
Note that the TSS filters are a finicky thing, at least in versions prior to 8.1. I will try my best to explain it - if I filter, let’s say, tables in a specific database, and then I navigate to another database and then come back to the tables list that I filtered, the filter that I typed is not always restored in the filter text field. What I do is I click on a table - usually some are displayed as a result of me applying the filter, then I click on the dropdown menu of the filter button (which is placed to the right side of the filter text field) and I select None. Then the filter is removed. It is weird. I reported this issue years ago, i.e. the fact that the filter is not restored when I navigate back to the items that were filtered, but they didn’t fix it, at least it is not fixed in version 8.0 which I am currently using. I got into the habit of executing the pattern I described so it is not an issue that bothers me anymore.
Btw - Quest is very slow at fixing issues, if they ever fix them. I’ve been using Toad for SQL Server since 2011 and there are bugs, especially in the formatter options dialog that have been carried from version to version. Every now and then they hire a product manager that comes on this forum and appears to be interested in collecting information and issues, but things are not fixed. I don’t know how this company works. Imo, they made a huge mistake by using .Net to develop this app. They should have followed in the footsteps of Toad for Oracle and use Delphi.
I agree with bog, it is likely filters. I read that you said that you cleared them. But I’ve experienced the same issue and it has always been a filter that I left on. Be sure to select the DB and choose NONE for the filter. Don’t just clear it from the box.
Have you opened a ticket with Quest and reported this issue that way as well as via this forum?
I also agree that Quest is very slow at fixing bugs. We purchased Toad for SQL Server in addition to Toad Data Point because we needed the debugger, ability to compare and sync schemas, ability to compare and sync databases. None of these features work correctly. I reported them via Quest tech support. They acted surprised! But I’ve found at least one of these issues reported in this forum nine years ago.
