v12.11.0.95 - Insight list doesn't show / is empty

I just installed Toad for Oracle v12.11.0.95 (64 bit) and I cannot seem to get Toad Insight to work. I have checked and re-checked that it is enabled (View->Toad Options->Editor->Code Assist->Enable Code Insight Pick List is definitely checked.) I have (among other things) tables, views, synonyms, functions selected as options. I have the pop-up delay set to 100 milliseconds. However, when I am in the editor, the insight box never pops up like it used to in previous versions. I have to hit CTRL-T to force it to come up and when I do the list is completely empty. I have hit the refresh button repeatedly and nothing is ever listed. (And yes, there absolutely should be objects listed.)

Starting with a blank tab, no text. Does it work there? What about after you type SELECT and then CTRL+T. Does it work here? Is it only failing in some contexts? If so, please provide example.

Thanks,

Michael

What I observed was that when I was using an account with dba permissions, I wasn’t getting insight at all, regardless of whether it was the first line on a new tab or in the middle of a script. As I stated in my original post, when I used CTRL-T, the popup was completely blank and hitting refresh had no effect. I tried closing toad and re-opening it, and the behavior continued. I tried refreshing insight several times, with no change. I then logged in with a non-dba account. With that account, insight worked immediately as expected (i.e. popping up as I typed and the popup was populated appropriately). I tried going into my dba account several times through the course of the day and it continued not to function with that account. When I opened Toad this morning and logged in with my dba account, insight started working properly.

So, I don’t know. It’s apparently just a weird glitch that happened that first day. (By the way, yesterday was the first time I’d opened toad after installing that version of the software, if that is of any relevance.) It seems to be working as expected now.

TOAD Insight works sporadically for me as well. From my experience, it seems to do more with what should be returned back than it does with the permissions of the user. For example, if I type the schema owner then a dot, I always get back the objects under the schema. But if I put the schema owner, dot, package, dot, sometimes I will get the items inside the package, but normally I do not. It seems that the larger the package, the more likely I won’t get anything back.

Thanks,

David

I have also found Insight Pick List to be temperamental. It seems to work better when I use aliases for tables, but it is inconsistent.
