Well, obviously the April 9 deadline never happened. Quest is now actively
searching for alternatives to Jive for forum software due to some ridiculously
obscene prices Jive seems to be able to wrench out of their customers hands. Due
to this, and due to problems with mirroring, I recommend you post through the
Yahoo boards instead of the Quest website.
Even after new forum software is found, due to this experience and experience in
past years with failed attempts to move elsewhere (does anyone remember Quest
Pipelines?) I’m going to be very reluctant to close these boards for a long,
long time. The confidence is not high that even if we find and move to new forum
software that, as with past attempts, the whole thing won’t collapse and then
we’ll be back to square one and have to move everyone back to Yahoo. Nobody
wants that, and you guys are far too valuable to us to jeopardize loss of
There’s the old adage, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Well we’ve wanted to
offer an integrated solution for forums, idea management, wiki, and so on for a
long time, so the reason has been sincere, anyway.

All of these boards will be closing permanently the weekend of April 9th. They
have all the kinks worked out on the Quest Communities and we’ve finally got a
system which is at least as good as the Yahoo Boards (actually superior), which
has always been our criteria in the past when we’ve sought other solutions. So
after that weekend we will see you all over there. I’m glad for it, it’s been a
long time in coming.
This post explains it in detail:
I’ll be sending this reminder out every now and again before then.
