My use of toad means that I often need to open several sessions at once in different instances. I can use ctrl+klick to choose them in the normal open session dialogue box. It would be nice to be able to select the ones I want to group and save them as a named session group, so that in the future I could choose the session group and open them all at the same time. It would be nice to be able to choose a session group when closing sessions as well.
Hi Tim,
The Workspace feature in Toad can do this for you.
Try these steps:
- Make the connections you want, and open any windows you want open with them
- On the main toolbar, click the button to the right of where it says
<No workspace selected>, and chooseSave as.... It will ask for a workspace name. Put in a name that makes sense to you and click OK - Close Toad
- Restart Toad
- Click the Workspace dropdown (where it says
<No workspace selected>) and choose the one that you created. It will make all those connections and open those windows again to the state they were in when you saved the workspace
You can set up as many workspaces as you want.
I just had another idea if you don't want to use workgroups for this.
- Click the "Custom Fields" button the the login window toolbar
- Add a Field and call it "Group" (or whatever makes sense to you)
- A "Group" column will appear in the grid.
- Enter whatever values you want in there to associate a connection with a group
- Now you can sort the grid by the "Group" column by clicking the column header, or filter it by clicking where I've indicated below. Either of which should help you quickly select the connections in a group.
