I’m quite certain I’m being very blond here but in my previous version 9 of TOAD in DataGrid I would Copy data and paste in Excel it would copy the header/Column names however in 10 it isn’t copying the column names. Is there an option setting that I haven’t found yet?
There’s indeed an option
I’m having the same trouble.
I think you have not quite understood the problem hillBillyToad. The question is on the copy/paste functionality of the data grid, not the data export. Yes, on export I can get column rows, but when I simply select all (CTRL+A) then copy (CTRL+C) from a data grid and paste into Excel I do not get column headers. Which isnt very helpful at all. If I had to export every time I wanted to dump into Excel I think I will downgrade back to Toad9. Very very frustrating.
Morning Jordan,
functionality of the data grid, not the data export. Yes, on
export I can get column rows, but when I simply select all
(CTRL+A) then copy (CTRL+C) from a data grid and paste into
Excel I do not get column headers.
I'm (still) on 10.0 GA and when I do a CTRAL+A, CTRL+C and then CTRL+V
into Excel, I do get the headings.
Ok, Hmmm, rewind!
If I do the above in the Database->Monitor->Session Browser, I get the
headings. If I do it in the results grid from a query, I don't get the
headings.
Cheers,
Norm.

Use CTRL+INSERT to copy with column headers
you mean to copy data , do CTRL+A , CTRL+C and paste data CTRL+V
and copy data+header CTRL+INSERT for header + all of above for data ?
I am sorry if i misunderstood anything.
Saurabh
CTRL+INSERT copies selected data + column headers
I am not able to perform this.
i am using toad 10.1.1.8 and office 2007.
while using CTRL+INSERT on excel , the current cell is being selected as copy
range… with dotted line around the cell.
what i am doing wrong ?
Saurabh
discard this
I am able to perform copy +paste with header… with CTRL+INSERT
Saurabh
You have to do CTRL+INSERT in TOAD instead of CTRL+C
Then in EXCEL you do CTRL+V
Sorry Jordan
That’s an extremely frequent question, I probably answer that at least
once a week…
Jeff, please add this to the EFAQ
Is there a way to configure TOAD to go back to including the column names on the grid copy Ctrl+C by default? You would think since this comes up so frequently Quest would add that functionality back in.
I happen to have a laptop that I have to do a CTRL+FCT+INS to get this function to work, which annoying!
Copying into Excel a highly used functional and the old version of Toad had the best solution from other IDE’s. Now not so much.
How this function work in Toad for Oracle 12.1. I cannot find the ‘INSERT’ key, I have excel 2007 on Windows 7. Such a basic and easy fictionality and so much pain?
I am curious as to why you copy/paste the data grid/result set instead of exporting to an Excel file instance?
