Database - Cache

I am looking for information concerning Caching in Toad Data Analyst.
Tools…Options…Database…Cache
Are there any performance issues with using/not using Caching, or by adjusting the Max IN-Memory size?

Any info, links, and/or documentation would be greatly appreciated.
I am experiencing inconsistent times in returned results from my queries.
For ex. sometimes a specific query takes 10 minutes to run and other times in the same day it takes 30-45 minutes.
I am trying to cover all my bases before I go to DB Admin concerning performance issues.

Caching is only related to objects in the explorer. When you first access an object we cache the deatils regarding that object. We do not cache any result sets.
