Does TDP Create unkown/unseen background queries tied to user? My limited user sessions are being occupied by SELECT queries and getting booted from server when I exceed my max number.

I’m in 3.7. Oracle DB. I am being told by our DBA that Toad is apparently running two or more connections under my user (“two running connection test (from dual)”). I am limited to four connections so if I open more than 2 windows I get kicked off of every connection, and cannot reconnect AT ALL until the server rolls back whatever it was doing (unbeknownst) under my user. Sometimes for longer than an hour.

Is there any setting I can disable to ensure TDP is not running any “silent selects” under my user name?

Earlier today I limited my initial row count from unlimited to 1000 and that did not help. This lock out is a recent event. Before I was simply getting kicked off all connections and I would reconnect. Very problematic to not be able to connect for large time chunks during the day. Our DBAs say they have not made any changes that might effect my user in this way.

Thanks.

Toad Data Point uses one connection per Object Explorer, one connection per Data tab, per Query Builder execution result, and individual connection for each open SQL Editor.

You can change how SQL Editors use connections.

To do it you open Tools|Options|Editor|General and uncheck the box ‘Use individual connection for each open editor’.

But you should understand that in this case you actions in one editor can affect open transaction in other ones. That’s why we don’t recommend such setting.

I’d recommend that you not open multi editors and Query builders.

We have found that you need a minimum of three connections to use Toad Data Point.
