Edit DateTime Field in beta 5.5.0.217

#1

Hi
I looks like I Can’t edit a datetime field in the table viewer data tab.
I get a nice dialog with date and milliseconds texts box, but nothing is
returned back to the row itself.
Is this a bug ?

Hi Dani,

Did you set proper formatting for datetime type in Options > Environment > Grid

Data Type Formatting > DateTime tab?

What would be the proper format ? Shouldn’t the DB reject the field if it
has wrong data ?
I can’t even type the date without using the dialog.
on field of time date (not datetime) it works ok.

Also - no matter what I choose in the option dialog, the modal “helper” remains
the same.

Now I’m slightly confused. Your initial question was about inability to
“ edit a datetime field in the table viewer data tab ” and that the
problem itself is you “ get a nice dialog with date and milliseconds texts
box, but nothing is returned back to the row itself ”, isn’t it?
This part works fine and the only reason you don’t see, say, milliseconds
is because you’re using format that hides milliseconds for datetime data.

So what is the real problem? Inability to edit datetime without using a dialog?
What wrong data db should reject? Seems like I don’t quite understand what
the problem is. Can you please clarify?

Thanks,

Igor.

I’ll explain.
I’m trying to add a datetime value, and there is no option of typing it into
the editor. there is a dialog that apears when I try to touch this field. it is
a nice dialog, which rules on months, days and everything. no matter what I
choose in the dialog, nothing goes back to the row itself,

all other fields in the row are editable and OK. only this one, which is of
DataTime type.

I’ve tried playing with display settings in options, but it didn’t
change anything (as I recall from previous versions - it only changes the
display, not the data itself anyway)

You’re trying to ADD data, now I understand. Definitely a bug, I’ll
create a high priority CR to address this.

Thanks for reporting,

Igor.

Thanks,
Have you reproduced it ?

Yes, sure. And I created high priority CR that I suggest should be addressed in
the next beta.

Thanks,

Igor.
