Editor F8 popup not showing

Howdy all,

When it was released, I upgraded a co-worker to 11GA. Today, his F8 doesn’t work in the Editor. The screen flickers on the left side like it wants to show, but then disappears. And I can’t find SQL Recall on any toolbar management. I’ve messed around with my Toad (11.1Beta), but can’t find out how it could be hidden.

I had him close all Toad windows while maintaining a connection, then hold down the F8 key. A vertical line flickers on the LHS as though a window is appearing/disappearing very quickly.

Thoughts? Other than deleting his profile, that is…

TIA!

Disclaimer: It’s (finally!) beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

It’s not that they’ve got that menu unpinned is it? I prefer mine unpinned, and when I press F8, it pops up a little toolbar on the left hand edge with “SQL Recall” sideways at the top.

I’m guessing not, but y’never know!

Whenever dealing with Toad desktop or toolbar-related issues, I always suggest
resetting defaults. In Toad’s main toolbar, there is a desktop combo box which
most likely has selected. Next to that is a dropdown button where you
will find “Restore default desktop”. Select that, then F8 again.

Hey Brad,

Whenever dealing with Toad desktop or toolbar-related issues, I always
suggest resetting defaults. In Toad's main toolbar, there is a desktop
combo box which most likely has selected. Next to that is a
dropdown button where you will find "Restore default desktop". Select that,
then F8 again.

Been there, tried that, but no luck. Tried renaming SavedSQL.DAT, no luck.
Turns out that it's easier to rename the whole User Files directory and
start over, so that's where we went. It's good practice anyway to make sure
those saved passwords are what you think they are.

Thanks!

Yeah, it’s rare, but I start from scratch from time to time with the app data as well. Usually this is an extreme measure as we often can find the culprit.

I’ve gotta go with the G-Men. My Redskins and the NFC East was terrible this season… maybe they can get us just a little redemption.

Perhaps F8 was remapped to another action? You should find SQL Recall on the View menu too.

I was able to find the pop-up editor “off screen” in Windows. Activate the pop-up editor then press Alt+Space. If you see a control menu like you’d see if you clicked the icon in the top left of most Windows application windows, cursor down to “Move” and press enter, or click it with your mouse. You should then have a handle on the window and may be able to drag it onto the screen with the mouse or cursor keys. This works in many instances where windows have wandered out of view.
