Editor paste wraps text in Java string literals (Make Code format) on every Ctrl+V

**Environment:** Toad for Oracle 2026 R1, build 26.1.193.8012, Windows 11 64-bit

### Issue

When I paste into the Editor, Toad wraps the text in Java string literal format, like Make Code Statement output. It happens on every paste, starting with the first one. Each paste after that also wraps the editor's earlier output again instead of pasting what's on the clipboard.

### Steps to reproduce

1. Type `select 1 from dual;` in the Editor.

2. Select it and press **Ctrl+C**.

3. Press **Ctrl+V** three times, each time on a new line.

### Actual result

The first line is the text I typed. The three blocks after it are the three pastes.

```text
select 1 from dual;
"select 1 from dual; "
"select 1 from dual; " +
" " +
" " +
"\"select 1 from dual; \" "
"select 1 from dual; " +
" " +
" " +
"\"select 1 from dual; \" " +
" " +
" " +
"\"select 1 from dual; \" + " +
"\" \" + " +
"\" \" + " +
"\"\\"select 1 from dual; \\" \" "
```

### Expected result

```text
select 1 from dual;
select 1 from dual;
select 1 from dual;
select 1 from dual;
```

### What I've checked

- In **View → Toad Options → Toolbars/Menus → Shortcuts**, Ctrl+V is mapped to Paste, and nothing else uses Ctrl+V.

- I reset the Ctrl+V shortcut. It didn't help.

Has anyone seen this, or is there a setting that applies Make Code on paste?

Hi Jay,

I don't know what is causing this.

Have you tried resetting all shortcuts (not just CTRL+V)?
What are your settings here?

It is a brand new install.

Thanks for the screen shot.

If I select the text, then do a CTRL+M (The default shortcut for "Make Code"), then do a CTRL+V and repeat, I can get the output that you reported. So something is invoking Make Code. But I don't get it from CTRL+C followed by CTRL+V.

Even if this is a fresh install, if you had an older Toad installed before this one, settings could have been imported from the previous install. Can you try resetting all shortcuts? Or at least also checking the Make Code shortcut?

Also, do you have any macros configured? If you don't see Macros on the toolbar you might have to enable it. Here's how to do that.

Thanks John. Problem solved by resetting all shortcuts.

I didn't create any new shortcuts, and I had reset the Ctrl+V shortcut, and ensured no other function was mapped to it while I was troubleshooting.

This new install was on top of my old install so maybe that caused the issue.

I think the Make Code shortcut somehow got set to just CTRL (actually the GUI shows it as CTRL+CTRL)
I can reproduce the problem if I do that.
