Export Dataset To Excel File . Giving Error on Opening in Excel

Hi,

I have discovered an issue when Exporting Data Set to an Excel File..

So the Info need first…

Toad Beta – 26.1.96.7666 … With Client 21 .. Windows 11 PC
connecting to DB 19.22 and 11.2.0.4 ( yes old but we are migrating )

The issue/error happens when Exporting Data Set from the Schema Browser Data Tab/Window. And also if you do the same from a Results Data Grid…

so using the simplest Query I could think of , Select * from dual

Export dataset select Format Excel File, and put a file name and left everything else as default.

Click OK. and then Excel Launches to open the file, I get this error…

Click yes and I get ..

and the view log viewed in Edge gives…

File seems ok, if you save as from excel and repen, but this is not ideal…!!

The same happens if you browse to the file and double click open,
and also if you do File – Open from within Excel…

Does not appear to happen with Current Prod Release Toad 25.3.346.7343

I did think was it our Install on Excel ( office 365 ) since we did have an update recently, but as it works with the Current Live Version I discounted that.
Note. I have Full Client Office 365 Installed ( Don’t use the WebApp version )
not sure if that would make any difference…

Hi Sean,

I don't think the problem is on your end. We just updated a lot of third party code in Toad, and one of these things was our Excel File Writer component.

I'll try to reproduce this tomorrow. As you discovered, Toad 25.3 works. If you want to use beta, then you'll likely also be fine with the "Excel Instance" export format (but then you'll need to save the file yourself once it opens in Excel).
