I am importing (using import for Excel, text …) an Excel column that contains
2014-09-04 14:59:06.523
I am setting the import format to ‘yyyy-mm-dd HH24:MI:ss.ff’. what is being imported is ‘09/04/2014 12:00:00.000000 AM’. Seems like an obvious fix, but it escapes me.
I appreciate the help.
I am using “Toad for Oracle Xpert”, 9.7.2.5
Ok. Need to back up a little. I just realized that the “show data” prior to importing is stripping off the time portion also. DO I need to explicitly tell Toad the format of this field? I have them all as text fields in Excel.
Is the data really on two lines like that in your excel file? That could be the problem.
No. Sorry for the confusion. I didn’t notice that the format was off. But, then on the other hand, maybe there is an embedded . That would be weird. Nothing
else is normal about this export though. Hmm…

no embedded return.
another clarification, the “show data” is just showing what I previously inserted into the table. However the preview is showing that the time component is entact. Appears Toad is not the issue. The column is defined as timestamp(6). is that correct?? (sorry that is not a Toad question, but I am hoping someone knows the answer).
Can you send me the export file and table DDL?
Feel free to chop out all but a few rows and whatever sensitive data might be in there.
You can email it to me directly at john.dorlon@quest.com
Yes. Thanks. Be there in a minute.
