Great job on the new vector icons and DPI support! Is it possible to increase the contrast on the Document tab, such that:
- The currently-focused tab is much more noticeable, under “Default” or “Skin'“ I can barely see it during late-night coding sessions. I’m aware that others like “Office11” offer more contrast, but I don’t like the gradient and so forth
- Package/Body glyph should be more distinct. I appreciate that Package Body is an open box vs. closed box for Spec. However, it would be very nice for the opened box glyph to have the inner part of the box a dark shade of grey or something similar
Hi Shenan.
Great job on the new vector icons and DPI support!
Thanks. It was a lot of work.
I agree about the package icon in 25.3. In fact, it was one of the first things I changed for 26.1 (which is coming out near the end of Feb 2026).
This image shows 25.3's package spec/body icons on the left, and 26.1's package spec/body icons on the right. It's not a big difference, but I think it's easier to see. What do you think? I could add more shading inside the box if it doesn't look like enough as it is.

As for the currently-focused tab, I assume you have Toad in the default non-color-themed mode? So it looks like this?
If so, I agree. There isn't a lot of color variation there. I added some for 25.3 on the buttons above (Schema Browser vs Editor).
If I remember correctly, I tried to add the increased contrast on Editor tabs too, but I don't remember why I wasn't able to. I want to say that Windows is responsible for the colors there in the "Default" setting (it was better under Windows 10, if I recall). I'm able to control it when color schemes are enabled (Options -> color schemes).
Anyway, I'll take another look at it in "default" with no color themes. Will post again later.

Next beta, and for version 26 R1, the upper tabs will have the same look as the lower tabs when Options -> Display -> Document tab style is set to Default.
I know you said that you didn't want to change this setting. It was not possible to simply increase the contrast in the old Default/Skin styles. I discussed this with the dev team, and we all felt that this was the best solution (of 3 proposed ideas). This solution was simple to implement, did not add any options, and has the added bonus of making the upper tab style match the lower tab style. Consistency is always good.
Anyway - "Default" Editor tabs will now look like this:
If anyone prefers the old look, with poor contrast and the red X buttons to close the tabs, you can change Options -> Display -> Document tab style to Skin.
Thanks for looking into this all so quickly - I look forward to whatever gets released! I have my tabs to the side because in my resolution/situation vertical space is at a premium. Here’s an example below. The ERP we work with has particular naming convention, and when open Packages start accumulating and my eyes get tired it’s hard to focus lol. Reducing the “urgency” of the red X’s is great, and the open box glyph with shading will certain be appreciated.
The new look for left side horizontal tabs will be like this:
