We have a team that will be installing Toad and would like to start off with the same options. For example, some of the Environment, Database, and Editor options I have changed and would like to easily pass a config file to the next team member to install toad so they have the same options. I assume there is a config file that would have this information too, but I haven’t found it.
Please note that I’m not talking about Connection Settings, those I have already found how to export.
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Jason,
Please refer to the “Install Toad Silently” section of the Toad Installtion Guide. You should be able to use the msi installer to do what you want.

Adam
Hi Adam, thanks for the quick response. This does sound like exactly what we need, and we can try to get an msi created for us with our setting. The only issue is that my team does not control or have ownership of the install file. We are allowed access to the .exe install as team members are added (or otherwise approved to install Toad). Is there a way to just pull the Settings.xml into the path post-install? We rather have a way for us to own if/when we need the options to change for initial installation.
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Jason,
I personally do what you’re suggesting all the time when I set up test machines. However, I only do this on machines of the same OS with the same user name.
If you look in the Settings.xml file you’ll see references to directories that are tailored to the machine and user name where Toad was installed. You’ll get errors if you use the settings on a machine where the directories don’t exist.
You might be able to edit the Settings.xml file for each machine to make your strategy work, but I think the effort will be better spent on creating a customized msi installation.
Cheers,
Adam
Thanks Adam, we may try this, but I agree the effort may be higher (or more improbably) than getting our own installation file.
Thanks,
Jason
