keeps locking after 1 minute and 20 seconds

Hello,

I have tried running the following commands 4 times now, and TOAD locks after 1min20sec each time. Any idea why?

select`` * ``from`` mediation``.``idc_br_events_stg

*--update mediation.idc_br_events_stg set status = 'X'*

where`` idc_partner_id ``=`` ``'CARWDC01'`` ``and`` backup_id ``in`` ``(``'car-01-001-nbma_COL_2K3_VFIL_0_1'``)

and`` status ``=`` ``'U'``;

Are you running the statement with F5 or F9? If F5 Toad will retrieve all of the rows by default. Maybe you are running out of memory? (Just a guess) Try running it with F9…Toad will give you the first 500 or so rows (less if the rows are big) then you can scroll down to see more rows if you need to.

Hi,

If I hit just “F9” nothing happens but brings up the control panel window on my Thinkpad. I have a w540 Thinkpad.

Toad’s not opening the control panel. Sounds like your laptop’s F-keys default to other features. I had a laptop that did that once. There should be another key to hold while you press the F-Keys to get the normal F-key behavior.

Or, just be sure to use the button in the Editor that says “Execute/compile statement at caret”, and not the one that says “Execute as script”.
