Is there an easy way to merge only one entity (and attributes within that entity) without having to exclude all the other entities in the database? For example, I have an entity named CUSTOMER and simply want to update the comments for all the attributes within this one entity while not updating any other entity.

There are a couple of things you can do to help to speed up the process. The first one is that on the Select Object Types screen, you can save your object type selection so you do not have to select it each time you do a Compare and Sync. Here is have saved the selection for AttributesComments so I can easily refer to that each time I do the operation.
The other way that I can speed things up is to use the check box on the Select Items page. By clicking the checkbox at the top, I can easily uncheck all objects and then just select the one that I want to use.
