Problem connecting to Oracle using Toad for Data Analysis 2.0.0.841

Hi,
I am new to Toad.
I am trying to connect to an Oracle client using Toad.
I get the database error dialog box on clicking on the connect button; -
“Can not load Oracle client. Check your PATH environment variable and registry settings.”

Any constructive help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Kieran.

Hi,
The only way I could get round this problem was to perform a complete un-install and re-install of toad which corrected the registry settings for this application.

I hope this helps someone.

Kind Regards,

Kieran.

Most times the problem is that on the toad connection screen you set the toad
setting for oracle home improperly – and rather than trying to regedit to
fix or using oracle home manager you simply need to press the button next to the
home setting to open a wizard to both troubleshoot and fix home settings (i.e.
toad oracle home manager). Going th uninstall route is simply the brute force
method to do the same thing

Where is the "button next to the
home setting to open a wizard to both troubleshoot and fix home settings " is this in version 3.0.
I can find no help when searching for “home settings” or “home wizard”

Please help I think I’m going to do a reinstall

On Toad 10.6, the piece Bert is talking about is the 3 little dots beside drop
down selection.

To get there:

Menu -> Session -> New Connection

A pop up box appears. On the right hand side there is a section in the lower
part called “Installed Clients”. There is a drop down box for
“Connect Using”. The button with the 3 dots are to the right of that
drop down box. If you hover your mouse over it, it will say “Oracle Home
Editor”.
