problem looking at XML data in Toad 10.1

I have some tables with XML data. In toad 9.7 when I double click on the XML
data I get the XML popup editor. In Toad 10.1 it brings up what looks like the
TEXT popup editor. This is causing some problems.

Set your toad options for external xml editor – as was mentioned in the
beta group – did away with toad’s xml editor to allow people to use
better alternatives J

Does this mean we have to buy an external XML EDITOR?

Since the best one on earth is free (XML Spy from Altova) – Nope J

No more XML editor in Toad with v10.

In the options you can specify a 3rd party XML editor on the Executables page.

I’m using a free one called XML Marker.

This change was done due to Unicode requirements and is detailed in the Release
Notes.

You may want to keep a copy of 9.7 around if you want to use Toad to edit
existing XML data using an XML editor.

XML Spy is free? Looks like you have to pay after a 30 day trial to me. Am I missing something?

They used to offer free version of XML Spy – it seems they now offer
something for free that’s bigger & better – a community version
of their Enterprise product:

If you don’t mind Microsoft .Net – here’s a freebie that might
work well:

And for those who want a true binary EXE file – this one has decent
reviews:
