QUESTION - Mapping Toad Team Coding Code Collection group to Microsoft Team Foundation Server Project Folders (TOAD v 12.5)

Hi,

We have a developer team that is just starting to use Toad v12 Team Coding with MS Team Foundation Server.

They would like to map Code Collection groups to specific folders in TFS. For example, map a Code Collection group for procedures to the TFS project procedure sub-folder, map a Code Collection group for Views to the TFS project view sub-folder, etc. See attached email with screenshots.

Will this be possible in the upcoming Toad v 12.5?

Hello,

This is not possible in a single code collection. There will not be a change to the mapping in 12.5, as it require a change to the Team Coding Server Side objects
tables to accomplish this. We are planning to this in Toad.next (the yet to be named release after 12.5).

The work around in 12.1 is to create a single code collection mapped to the functions folder, procedure folder etc. I understand this is less than ideal.

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

We are trying to implement the 12.1 workaround that you suggested. Could you provide a bit more detail as to how we can do this, please?

We don’t know how to do the following:

“The work around in 12.1 is to create a single code collection mapped to the functions folder, procedure folder etc. I understand this is less than ideal.”

We are willing to try it out…

Hi Cindy

This is one possible approach. When setting up Code Collections each ‘Collection Name’ in the grid can map to only one project, and each project can map to
only one Code Collection.

I have a TFS Project called STEPHENDNT. I have three sub-folders for Functions, Procedures and Views.

Suppose I am controlling Functions, procedures functions, and views in the database. I add a new code collection for each, mapped to the TFS sub folders.

My Code Collection screen looks like this when I am done.

If you wish to control just one Schema, do the same with the Schema name selected in the schema dropdown.

As I said, this is not ideal, but may work.

Regards

Stephen
