How is this accomplished? I know we can do it but forgot how. I’d like to see the email address to use somewhere on the top of the Discussion page area so new users immediately know how to do it. This is one if the biggest concerns people have in moving from Yahoo so we need to alleviate it for them quickly by making it obvious it can be done, and how to do it.
Thanks. The site looks great.

I think all you have to do set a watch on all the forums, then reply to the topic notifications when they come in. Testing now…
But, yes, it would be a good idea to explain that on the home page. I will do that.

OK. I have posted some instructions on the home page. Unfortunately, this system only allows you to reply to existing threads by email. To start a new thread, you have to be on the site.

Mike, this would definitely prevent us from moving to this system. People have to be able to start new threads with email, this is how everyone works today, and was their principal requirement for any move to another system
Mark,
I spoke with the Community Admin team today. We can do this. It requires setting up an email gateway for each forum you want users to be able to start threads on. I have asked Brian to set up such a gateway for the Toad Beta forum. I’ll let you know when it is ready and we can try it out.

excellent, thanks Mike.
I was wondering about that, because Lenka mentioned the same system is used by other teams, which use email.
Random note: I rebooted my machine & had to log back in again, so not sure if the cookie system is working or if it’s just a requirement.
Are you aware of the fact that messages that come in now through email are not visible and I’ m not speaking about creating new messages? If you take a look at some of the beta messages, you see that they are there, but there is no text.

Bad idea. I already lost some messages in this way. And it doesn’t matter if I send them to the old or new email address.
Another issue I hate is that if you click on the reply button beside the message, the message is not quoted. So what I did is now to copy some text in of the original message and made your text italic to let it stand out.
There is other forum software that makes it more flexibile in quoting and adding special texts like smileys.
