TDP 3.3 is running schedules twice. Running 3.3.0.1543 on XP. If I run interavtively in TDP it runs just once. Did not have issue with 3.2.

I got a hold of a Server 2008 R2 box today and scheduled an automation script with an email. I did not get this error.

Did you guys see this post? it seems to fit your issue and there is a hot fix.

After reading the hotfix desc further it looks like it applies specifically to timing on the scheduled tasks. Im doubtful it will work for this issue because i can right click on the task and hit run and it still does it twice, without using a set schedule time, plus i would think we would see this on other schedules using other software. Do you have this hotfix applied to your server machine? Also, what versions of .net do you have on the server machine you are using?? Thanks chad

I have .net 4.5 on this server and do not have the hot fix applied. It does sound like a timing issue with the windows scheduler and this would make sense that it repeatedly occurs on one server but not others.

Ill try to apply the hotfix just to say it was tried. What other .net versions do you also have?

The strangest thing happened. I haven’t made any changes, nor added that hotfix, but out of nowhere, the tasks are only running once. Maybe it’s possible that the .net 4.5 takes a while to take effect or something. I’m going to keep a close eye on it and set up other tests and see how they work. I’ll let everyone know if it starts back up. Carl, you have .net 4.5 right? If so, did you just get it yesterday and has your problem stopped? Chad

We have the same issue. Toad Data Point 3.3 is Windows 7 and we get the tasks running multiple times. Upon installed the .NET 4.5 fixed my issue with one of the task automation files but another one started to run multiple times per day. We cannot figure out why.

Armand, I’m similar with you on Server 2008. Just when I say it’s fixed, it started doing it again. I have some now that seem to run just once, and some that will run twice. I’ll try this hotfix if I can just to see, but its interesting to see your experiencing it on Win 7. I’ll continue to test my tasks on Win 7 as well and see if some start running twice again also.

Chad

Perhaps try re-creating schedule with 4.5 in place?

I dont think so because i had installed it yesterday morning before I even created the schedules, so my schedules were created after 4.5 was installed. It’s the strangest thing. I’m wondering if I need to call and set up a developer ticket? Cause it appears to be an issue across the board and I know it’s hit or miss on machines, but its vital that we have this working where it only runs once due to the size of data we use and again for me this is the absolute reason we purchased the product in the first place.

Chad

Somewhere in this thread it jogged a thought. .Net is an interpretive language. When you first run it, it optimizes with the operating system and your environment. Because of this, after you either upgrade to .net 4.5 or apply the hot fix mentioned above, please also re- install Toad Data Point. This will re-optimize the binding to .net. If you can’t re-install, let me know as there is a way to handle this manually.

Debbie, I can sure try this. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Thanks

Chad

I await with bated breath:)

Debbie,

Just another FYI. I tried applying that hotfix to no success. I tried both the Win 7 and Vista versions and both said “not applicable to computer”. Therefore, hoping the reinstall might be the fix. Again, will let you know.

OK, I re-installed and rebooted the server. Unofuntately this did not fix the problem and I’m still getting scheduled tasks specific to Toad Data Point running twice, including the simple email task.

Debbie, again, do you only have .net framework 4.5 on that server machine of yours? If so, I’m clueless what else I can do.

Chad

I would say, that you should try responding to these Microsoft forums on this topic.

In my opinion the Microsoft hot fix is the thing that will fix the issue. Why did this not work for you? Did you get the hot fix from here?

i will try installing on my server.

Debbie

That’s exactly where I got both of them. Our server is running 64 Bit Win Server 2008 R2 Standard. Therefore, I assumed that the Windows 7/Server 2008 R2 SP1 would be the one to use, so I downloaded that and tried to install it first and it said “not applicable to computer”. I then went ahead and tried the Windows Vista one and also got the same message. I’m interested to see what you get.

Chad

Debbie, Can you please do me a favor in your testing? Could you make a minor change to your test .tas file, such as changing the email address from or something like that and trying again through the scheduler. One thing I notice is that if it runs quite a few times with no changes, I start seeing it only send once, but when I make changes, it then goes back to running twice, so I’m wondering if this could be tested and see what you run into. Also, again, are you running any other versions of .net on the server machine other than 4.5? Maybe, I can make sure we have even earlier versions to ensure they dont have anything that helps this too.

Chad

I’m sorry to keep adding, but I keep noticing things as I progress through the testing. Just as I mentioned before, I changed the task up a little and saved and reran on my Win 7 machine, which I thought was fixed, but noticed also on it, that it runs the task twice. This might be why Armand is having similar issues on his Win 7 machine as well. Therefore, I’m getting a feeling that changing tasks has something to do with it on either O.S. It’s quite possible somehow it’s getting resolved a set time after the task is modified, which is why it goes back to sending just once, but again it’s something of concern and I dont believe should be happening. I’m interested to see if others have the same issue.

I could no unzip the hot fix. I will have to open a support ticket with Microsoft.
