Successfully installed Oracle 11g client on Win 7 / 64x box and connected to six separated instances without issue. Installed Toad for Oracle 10.1.1.8 without errors.
When I open Toad, however, I get “You have no Oracle Clients Installed”. Do I need a patch, an upgrade or something else?
Did you install the 64-bit Oracle client?
If so, uninstall the Toad and 64-bit oracle client and install 32-bit Oracle Client instead.
The Toad doesn’t work with 64-bit Oracle client well.
I had similar problems to your case. The above suggestion works good.
The 32-bit Oracle client is a required on x64 systems, as stated on Release Notes:
Operating System
Windows 2000 (32-bit or 64-bit)
Windows XP (32-bit or 64-bit)
Windows Server 2003 (32-bit or 64-bit)
Windows Vista (32-bit or 64-bit)
Windows Server 2008 (32-bit or 64-bit)
Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)
Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) Note: You must use a 32-bit Oracle client with the 64-bit operating systems.
To avoid reconfiguration just copy your tnsnames.ora on to the new client.
Hope it helps,
-Pablo.
