toad 10.1 problem: the editor can't handle files other than .SQL

I sent email earlier (about a week ago) about a problem with the Toad 10.1
editor. It can’t handle files with an extension other than .sql.

It will load pkb, pks, fnc, etc. files but when you click execute a DOS window
appears and disappears quickly. You can’t even execute via QSR or SQL*Plus
because they are greyed out.

You have to save it as an SQL file, close the tab and open the SQL file to be
able to do anything.

THIS is a show stopper. We can’t have people go to 10.1 when the editor
does not work.

Erwin,

In the Editor, R-click and select "configure editor tab styles’ Does everything
in the “Style” column match what is in the “Desktop” column?

Send me your INI offline. It works fine here in 10.1.1.8.

Michael

It shows the following

Should I change the desktop column so it shows PL/SQL and add extensions?

This has not been necessary for all previous releases.

That’s what I was afraid of. It looks like you fell victim to a bug in our first
10 release. Unfortunately, we could not come up with a solution that could “fix”
those already affected by this, so you will have to fix yours manually, which is
easy to do.

This issue only affected those how installed 10.0 and chose to copy over their
settings from 9.7 where they had previously made adjustments in this screen.

To fix, just make your settings look like this:

THANK You. That fixed it. I had to restart Toad for it to take effect.

Does this mean that anybody in our department who goes from Toad 9.7 to 10.1
will have this problem?

No problem.

No, 10.1 does not have this problem, so those going from 9.7 to 10.1 are fine.

The only people that would be affected are those that have gone from 9.7 to 10.0
and have previously customized these settings in 9.7.

But I went directly from 9.7 to 10.1. I did not install 10.0

Did you reuse any settings files that had come in contact with a 10.0 beta at
any time?

Michael

No. I did not download any 10.0 beta.
