Toad 10 attempts to lock TNSNAMES.ORA FILE

Hi.

I just installed Toad 10 for Oracle and upon launching, I receive an
error message which states: " Cannot open file “o:\tnsnames.ora” The
process cannot access the file because it is being used by another
process…

We have a “main” TNSNAMES.ORA file on a mapped drive which everyone uses.

What part of Toad attempts to open the TNSNAMES.ORA file with a lock? We
did not have this problem with prior versions.

Thanks.

Hey Armando,

This may be related to a known bug that exists in Toad 10.1.0.7 where Toad
doesn’t correctly reset a file’s read-only flag to read-write. This
is something that will be fixed in the next patch, which should be released in
the next week or so. In the meantime, check the file’s properties in
Windows to see who is locking that file, and whether the file lock needs to
remain in effect. If not, and the file’s read-only flag was simply not
reset correctly, it can be reset manually.
