Sometimes, when I click the ambulance button to get an Explain Plan in
Toad 10, it gives me the SQL hourglass for a second or two and then
completely vanishes. No “this program must close” dialog box, no
TOAD.ELF generated, nothing; the window is simply gone. (According to
Task Manager the process is gone too.) Looking in PLAN_TABLE and
TOAD_PLAN_SQL, I don’t see anything from the Explain, so it was
presumably in the Explain part, not the formatting-results part (or it
didn’t Commit, if a Commit is needed for an Explain Plan?).
This is consistent for a given SQL; if I restart Toad and try to explain
the same query again, it will crash again. However, it doesn’t happen
with all queries; generally, it seems to happen on the more complicated
ones. Toad 9.7 can Explain the same SQL successfully.
Support bundle and toad.ini attached below. (You can see it reports the
“most recent error” from the TOAD.ELF from a couple months ago, i.e.
this crash didn’t create a TOAD.ELF.) This support bundle was created
after I restarted Toad and reconnected to the same server as the same
ID, although at the time of today’s crash I had another connection also
open.
Any suggestions?
