Toad hangs

Hello All,

Toad - 11.0.0.116 (Licensed version)

Oracle Server - 11.2.0.3.0

Oracle Client - 11.2.0.1.0

OS - Windows 7 Professional - Service Pack 1

My Toad was working perfectly till last week. All of sudden starting this week, Every thing gets hanged and gives result after 30 to 40 Secs . Even executing ‘Select sysdate from dual’ gives result after 30 Secs. But I am able to connect to Oracle server using SQL+ and SQL Developer without any issues and execute all the queries. As soon as i hit F9, it just hangs for 30 Secs.

I tried re-installing Toad with no luck. Also did some research in Google and tried resetting few settings in Toad.ini file. Nothing worked

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Many factors could be responsible for apps hanging, but Toad v. 11.x is pretty old. Give the 12.9 beta a try and see if you still have the issues.

I missed this post, but in Toad 11.0 you can try this to rule out SQL Recall.

  1. Close Toad
  2. Locate SavedSQL.dat in your appdata User Files folder; its location is specified on the General page in Toad’s Options
  3. Rename SavedSQL.dat
  4. Start Toad
  5. Execute a query
If this works you can restore your SavedSQL.dat file (with Toad closed) and clean up the list of saved statements from the SQL Recall pane (F8 within Toad). You can skip restoring the file if you don’t care to recover them. You should probably upgrade Toad anyway, but if SQL Recall is the culprit it should be resolved in Toad 12.8.

I had similar problem after upgrading (from v11 to v12-- but i don;t think the version was related to the problem)

Simple query execution and Toad hanged for 15-45s (displayed 0.0s executing) and when done displayed execution time of < 200ms in the status bar)

It also hanged when i set focus to a different Windows program and then returned to Toad window.

Solution: Created a new subfolder under the default C:\Users[myID]\AppData\Local\Temp\

and set the General->Temp file directory option to point to it:

Looks like it was lost. Moderator, please recover it as i am not going to retype it from scratch.

Normally posts are not moderated at all unless the system “detects” an issue (language, spam, …). If they are, the moderator is usually very quick to respond.

No, I saw it when you first posted.
Sometimes they will move it to a more appropriate thread, but they notify you by email about that.

I see it now. TImestamp “6:39pm”

Normally, if you post an email to the list, you don't tend to see your own postings, only replies ' at least that's been my experience since the new format took over from the old one which was email only. Back then I saw all my own postings plus replies.

Threading also isn't working in the new world. It's caused by a missing email header if I remember correctly.

Another reason that you might not have seen your posting is that you appear to have “hijacked” a thread from 13 Jan 2016 rather than starting a new one.

When I say “hijacked” I’m referring to your message about not seeing your posting on the list and I’m not referring to your original reply. However, you are aware that you are replying to a 2016 thread?

Just a thought. Or two.
