I am not able to load multiple copies of the TOAD Beta. I get the following. I feel confident I have been able to do this in the past. As a workaround, I load the latest TOAD beta and and then an older version of TOAD, but that is not ideal. Any ideas?
Nothing was intentionally changed here. You should be able to run multiple copies of the same Toad. We try to be careful to prevent these "file in use" errors, but clearly we've missed this one. My guess is that if you just close the copy of Toad that gave the error (if it didn't close on its own), then you can retry and it'll work.
Next time it happens though, can I get the full call stack?
Here is how you can get it:
In the error dialog of your screen shot, click where it says "Click here".
In the next dialog, there will be a checkbox in the lower right corner that says "Copy to clipboard". Check it and click OK to close the dialog
Paste the clipboard contents here, or you can email them to me: john.dorlon@quest.com
I can try again. But this was a fresh reboot, fresh install of the Beta, invoked TOAD and immediately tried open a 2nd Toad and then I printed the screens for you. I can try again.
On another topic, I was trying to use this "Save Workspace" and it is disabled; I have not idea why. Anyways, I thought I would use this "Toad Chat" which I invoked (this was on my NON-BETA 2026 R2) and it seems to have replaced by Permanent Licence with a Trial License !!! See screen.
I should put that on another chat. But I am going to close and try my 2026 R2 again. This is bizarre.
Do you have this option checked? If so, uncheck it.
For me, Toad disables logging in the 2nd copy of Toad if you have logging enabled to avoid file collisions, but if it fails to disable, that could cause what you are seeing.
I can reproduce this problem now if I run the first copy as Administrator and the 2nd copy as non-admin. Run them with the same privileges as each other to avoid the problem.
