Bruce, since VMWare reelased their free server, I’ve been using it myself as well. It’s been real helpful to have a virtual machine to test out various scenarios.

I thought I heard rumors of Microsoft supplying this functionality in their future operating systems…? Has anyone heard of it?

Not aware of any rumour Tom.

It would be nice for Microsoft to do that. That would save people money/costs.
People in our group which I have discussed with, we all prefer VMWare products. However, if MS offers it free as part of the OS, then VMWare would need to watch this space .

The free version is coming up right? it is still in beta.

As far as I know, our lab still have to pay for VMWare license as we speak. And the license is assigned to each user, ie. licensed by name .

Yes, it’s in beta, but it’s a public beta. We’re using it in-house now for number of different applications. We haven’t had any problems yet…

I have been using virtual box from oracle with a lot of success. It’s free and that is one of my favorite 4 letter words.
