Need information on licensing

Hi,
I work in a big MNC and for POC I needed Toad for Oracle and for that I installed Toad for Oracle using my corporate identity. When I was installing it, it showed that the software could be used for a 30 day trial period.
I have following doubts:

  1. What will happen after 30 days? Will the software stop working?

  2. Do I need to uninstall it when 30 days are over?

  3. Will Quest charge my company, because I had downloaded the software using corporate id?

Thanks,
TP

  1. the fully featured trial will turn into a feature limited freeware.
  2. no
  3. no

Thanks Jordan.

I had downloaded Toad for Oracle trial version, and now my company has been asked to pay licensing fees for 'Oracle Developer Edition'. I had installed 'Toad for Oracle', only and I haven't able to figure out what 'Oracle Developer Edition' is. Do you have any softwares by that name, or does it refer to Toad for Oracle?

The Toad for Oracle Developer Edition is a packaging of various Toad products that cater to the developer persona. If your company has paid for the Developer Edition, then this is what you are licensed to use:

  • Toad for Oracle Xpert (Flagship Toad)
  • SQL Optimizer (Best of class SQL Tuning)
  • Code Tester (PL/SQL Unit Testing)
  • Toad Data Modeler (Data Models)
  • Benchmark Factory (Measure database performance under application or manufactured load)

So, if you've already paid for the product, don't download the trial version, but download and install one of the Editions Installers off of our Support site:

I am a developer and far removed from sales and licensing, but I do know that the Trial version is free. Don't believe anyone who says anything else.

Maybe you just got contacted by an overly enthusiastic salesman?
Maybe someone else in your company purchased a license but hasn't paid yet?
I can only guess.

Thanks a lot Gary,

My company did not pay for Toad for Oracle Developer Edition. I downloaded the trial version for Toad for Oracle Developer Edition. The next thing I know my company is receiving a legal notice from Quest asking them to pay .

I think I downloaded it from here:

After 30 days will this software turn into a freeware or does my company need to pay?

Also I went to this link, and it says developer edition turns into a freeware after 30 days.

Thanks,
TP

As I said before:

Fully featured Trial turns into Feature-Limited freeware after 30 days. You do not have to pay.

Follow this link, read the text on the right hand side:

Oh, yes, that's the link I gave. Show that to whoever wants you to pay.

Yes, I suspect one of the possibilities that Mr. Dorlon already mentioned... most likely, someone--probably unbeknownst to you--already uses the Toad Developer Edition within your organization, and is due for a renewal, or is interested in purchasing the product. However, Quest has never required anyone to pay for use of our free trial product versions, plain and simple.
