what will be the process when the next Toad 10 patch comes out?

#1

What will be the process for people on 9.7? Will we have to first install Toad
10 GA, then add patch 1 and finally add patch2 or will there be a completely new
Toad to install?

Erwin,

This will be completely seamless, something users won’t have to worry about. We
are releasing entirely new Bundle packages with all of the other products. When
you run it, it will know if you’ve already go Toad 10 installed or not and take
the appropriate action (full install or upgrade). Also, if you don’t want the
overhead of downloading and running the entire installer bundles, we are making
a stand-alone patch available on support link as well.

Does that work?

I forgot to mention Toad 10.1.1.8 will be able to patch 10 or 10.1.0.7, whether
it is run through the installer bundles or the stand-alone patch.

Thank you, that sounds perfect. Since I have not installed the GA yet I will
wait for the patch and do it in one fell swoop rather than in 3 stages. But
obviously anybody who already is at patch 1 would not want to download the whole
Toad again.

Yup, I think Mark had Apple on mind when he designed this thing so “it just
works”…he is an msi/Install Shield expert now whether he likes it or not.
